"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them. "

Firstly, my kudos on your first-class articles about luck. I agree with your message that luck comes knocking on the doors of people who put themselves 'out there'.
I would add that animals too bring luck and success to people. People who have animal as pets and love them are less stressed and live more healthy lives. Also, everyone knows that a 'lucky' chicken could pick out your Lotto numbers; a dog can smell the cancer cells in its owner. In Readers Digest, they have readers writing in on how their loyal pets have saved them from snakes and so on.
Not only do real animals bring luck and empower their owners, but auspicious images of them enhance one's feng shui or fix one's qi. The Chinese calendar has 12 animals that have various levels of significance in terms of luck, life and love. At Chinese restaurants they have animal figurines (dragons, dogs etc) that ensure the cash register keeps rolling in the cash.
Although on the reverse side, animals tie their owners down to earth and give them a reason not to venture too far or wide into the world. Thus reducing the chances of serendipity occurring to them in a global way.
