G'day Jason, in the Steve Jobs story, you've missed the bit that happened at the end. The bit that says that Steve Jobs then appointed a new executive to run the group. Note that action - he didn't dive in himself to fix the problem as a committee of one, and the executive was expected to lead a group.
Being a lone commander, using power and authority to command and control, is the easy option, but not the one that produces the best results and years of business results and research proves this.
I recommend you have a look at Steve Denning's recent Rethink posts on the Forbes blog site for a broader view of Apple.
There can be a difference between getting the job done, and getting the best results that delight clients and customers. And how much more likely are you to have success when pursuing luck as a group than trying to do the solo run!
Cheers, geoff

G'day Jason, good post and I certainly agree with your points about long-term thinking and the dangers of too much short-term measurement.
I'd be really to find out your source for the stats on US shares being held for an average of 2.8 months. This is important work and I'd love to have a look at it.
Cheers and good pursuing, geoff

[...] When debating you are tempted at times to play the man and not the topic. Playing the man is a negative serendipity force because it can offend and cause people to shut-down the interaction when one of the most important factors in the pursuit of luck is positive people collisions.
I think there are many important points to consider in this post. However, the most important is the element of creativity. Creativity has the ability, Name after name after name. Some annotated, some circled or crossed out, lines going wildly in every direction. Identifying paths of least resistance. When incorporated appropriately, to establish quite a competitive advantage. Thanks for nice post..

Really you have done a good job. The written style is very prompt and the highly practical manners. Starting a business that you are not interested in is a recipe for failure. You don’t want another job that you don’t like, you want a business that you enjoy working in. Creating an income out of doing something that you like is a rewarding experience. Not only will you get to do something that you enjoy doing, you might also get to live off the income. If you can manage to start a successful business that is based on one of your interests, you might feel like you never really work again. I am looking forward to reading more from you. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
